About Our Angels & Woodcraft
What makes the Faltenrockengel® by BLANK Kunsthandwerk so special?
Each Faltenrockengel is hand-turned, carefully assembled, and delicately painted in our workshop in Grünhainichen, in the Erzgebirge region of Germany. The distinctive pleated skirt of our figures was designed in 1955 by our founder Georg Beyer (the grandfather of Uwe Blank). Since then, we have been creating the Original Faltenrockengel® with love and craftsmanship, now in the third generation.
Are all the figures really handmade?
Yes. All our angels, flower children, smokers, pyramids, and candle arches are entirely handcrafted – from turning the individual parts to painting and assembling them. We produce exclusively in Grünhainichen, in the Erzgebirge.
How can I recognise genuine Erzgebirge woodcraft?
Our products carry the official seal “Echt Erzgebirge – Holzkunst mit Herz” (“Genuine Erzgebirge – Woodcraft with Heart”). It stands for traditional craftsmanship, regional origin, and certified quality by the Association of Ore Mountain Craftsmen and Toy Makers (Verband der Erzgebirgischen Kunsthandwerker und Spielzeughersteller e.V.).

How can I place an order in the online shop?
It’s very simple: select your desired product, add it to the basket, and complete the checkout process. You can order as a guest or create a customer account.
How long does delivery take?
Within Germany, delivery usually takes 2–4 working days. International orders may take a little longer – you will find all delivery times displayed in your basket.
Which delivery service does BLANK Kunsthandwerk use?
We ship climate-neutral with DHL. All parcels are carefully packed to ensure safe transport.
Can I collect my order in Grünhainichen?
Yes, of course. Simply select “Collection in the Kunststube” during checkout. As soon as your order is ready, we’ll notify you by email.

Are new angels released every year?
Yes. Our angel orchestra grows each year with new musicians. We also release limited special editions to mark special occasions such as anniversaries or collectors’ events.
Are there limited or annual editions?
Yes. Some of our figures are limited either in quantity or production period. These editions are clearly marked in our shop.
How should I care for and store my figures?
It’s best to store your angels in a dry, dust-free place with as stable a room temperature as possible. For cleaning, use a soft, dry brush or a microfibre cloth – please do not use damp cloths or cleaning agents.
For storage, we recommend tissue paper or fine, acid-free wrapping paper. Please do not use napkins, tissues, or similar materials, as these attract moisture and may transfer it to the wood. This can lead to discolouration or cracks.
Also avoid storing your figures in attics or cellars, as these places often have strong temperature fluctuations and varying humidity levels. Direct sunlight should also be avoided to preserve the colours and finishes over time.

Can I visit the workshop?
Yes! During the “Pyramidenfest” on the second weekend of Advent, we open our doors to visitors. You can also experience how our angels are made during the “Day of Traditional Crafts” in October. The exact dates can be found on our website at www.blank-engel.de.

We use only local woods from sustainable forestry. Our paints are solvent-free and environmentally friendly.
